Public Utility Operations Facility
Windy, exposed conditions at this lowland facility can cause desiccation of fragile plant materials. Inspired by California meadow habitat, we chose hardy, drought-tolerant indigenous natives and close relatives, which not only withstand the weather but also attract butterflies and other beneficial insects. Poppies create a blanket of color in spring, followed by rosy Buckwheat blooms and lacy Deer Grass seed heads.
